- Explore the Dutch Fort of Galle- World Heritage Site (20 minutes) – the best preserved fort of its kind in Asia.
- Be fascinated by the treasures of the Maritime Museum in Galle Fort.
- The Galle Literary Festival (January/February) is held annually.
- The Galle International Cricket Ground. (20 minutes) may be hosting an International Game, if you are in luck!.
- The Martin Wickramasinghe Museum and “Madol Doowa” island (30 minutes), combined with a boat trip in the Koggala Lagoon is a morning well-spent.
- Try a day-trip to Sinharaja – Neluwa area(2 hours each way),
- Hiyariya rain forest sanctuary(1 hour each way) for bird watching and general study of rain forests,
- Unawatuna beach, one of the Ten Best Bays in the world! (20 Minutes)
- Kushta Raja Gala, a 8-9 century rock carving in Weligama\(45 Minutes)
- Scuba diving and serious diving opportunities at Weligama and Hikkaduwa (45 minutes each) with plenty of shipwrecks.
- Ample whale and dolphin watching opportunities at Mirissa (50 minutes) during the season from December to March.
- Nadun Uyana is an ideal halfway stopover between Colombo and Hambantota/Yala/Kataragama.
