The Bungalow
Close to the historic city of Galle, the estate bungalow dates back to the 19th century. Built by Mudaliyar E.R. Gooneratne as his ‘writing retreat’, it witnessed the editing and translation of many Pali, Sanskrit, and Sinhalese works. His translation of the Pali Text Society’s edition of the “Anguttara Nikaya” (The book of Gradual Sayings) and the “Rupamala” a Sanskrit manual for artists and craftsmen, were prepared here. It has a sweeping view of a mountain landscape where flights of egrets wing by at eye level. The extensive garden plays host to a myriad of wet zone flora and fauna.
Your Stay
Nadun Uyana will be your home away from home during your stay. The ambience of simplicity and old-world charm is complemented by three comfortable family rooms with ensuite bathrooms, and spacious living and dining areas.
Wake up and enjoy the break of first light and birdsong on the veranda, followed by a refreshing swim in the pool. Then take a walk along the estate paths, bordered by avenues of giant trees. Fresh air and the scent and sight of masses of wild flowers invigorate your senses.
Come back to a hearty lunch of traditional rice and curry, cooked on a wood-fired hearth.
End the day with a barbeque dinner in the garden. Later, the night is dark, cool and silent; with only night sounds – wind rustling the trees, an owl hooting, the cry of a distant jackal, fireflies on the lawn, and stars overhead.

We offer the services of a cook who will prepare meals from your provisions and supplies, at a cost of Rs. 600/- ($ 2) per meal.
Family One Day Outing: Rs 3000/- ($ 10) per person (welcome drink, lunch, tea)

Nadun Uyana is located in Meda Keembiya, 13km inland from Galle Town, and 9km from Pinnaduwa highway exit.
